What is a website?
The website is a web content publishing platform on the internet. Which is generally consists of a domain name, a web hosting, and a publishing server. I consider that you know some websites, no I think you probably visit those websites all day long. Some example is www.facebook.com, www.google.com, www.youtube.com, etc. Those are some famous websites in the world.
What is domain name? How exactly domain name works?
Let’s consider your house as an example. Your house must have a physical existence somewhere around the world. There are a lot of goods at your house. If someone wants to visit your house first of all you need to give the address of your house. Using the address visitors will come to visit your house.
Think similarly, your website has an existence somewhere around the world but it will exist on the internet in some locations. To visit your website, the visitor needs the address of your website, and the address of your website is called a domain name. so the domain name works as an address like your house. Some examples which I have given previously, www.facebook.com this is the domain name of Facebook and obviously this is the address of Facebook. If you want to make a website, you must need a domain name.
What is hosting? How it works?
Again, let’s think about your house, which has an address and some specified space to store equipment. Suppose you have purchased some showpiece for your house, so you need some free space to store those showpieces. Almost every piece of equipment contains some space to store their position.
Similarly consider the website as a web house, which has an address called domain so now you must be needed some space to store your documents or essential files. So, Hosting is some free space on a special computer to store your web data, the computer is located in some datacenter around the world. This is a special computer which gives visitors the 24/7 excess to your website.
Difference between Domain and Hosting
If you read the previous paragraphs carefully now you know at least what is the basic difference between Domain and Hosting. A domain is a web address and hosting is a free space to contain all the web files. Now I think it’s clear.
